Internship Diary: Making Things Happen

Walking into the vibrant and creative doors of PATTERN, I never could fathom the valuable experience I would be carrying out with me.

When I received the confirmation that I was accepted into the internship program I was flooded with doubt. How could these crazy talented individuals want me?  Did I deserve this? Am I talented enough? The imposter syndrome was real.  I was beyond thrilled and I wanted to do the best job that I could possibly do. I knew that if I wanted to get the most out of my experience, I needed to hold myself with confidence in the work I create and never doubt a single part of me.

I feel as if I did just that. Throughout my time, I have learned more than I could have imagined. Whether it was helping to manage an event, creating content, or assisting with a shoot. I have grown exponentially in my writing and have found a love for the arts and fashion. Without PATTERN, I would not have been able to tap into this version of myself. I was challenged in many different ways and I am thankful for that.

I am also entirely thankful for all the people I have been able to connect with. My fellow interns always brought so much energy and fun to every day, I couldn’t have imagined it any other way. I have also found a new love for Indianapolis and the people here. I was able to learn about the stories of so many creatives in the city and I am looking forward to seeing how Indy flourishes in the future.

My advice for future interns is to say yes. Say yes to every opportunity you are handed whether it is small or large and make it happen. Never doubt yourself or your art and always believe that you are capable. Make every moment count.

Thank you PATTERN. Thank you for giving me more than I could have imagined. Peace out!
